Coming In As a Walk-In

We Are Open On Mondays For 2026

Coming as a walk-in means coming to our shop on a Monday afternoon without an appointment.

This is Step 2 of our process for getting a bike.  Getting a voucher is Step 1.  If you do not have a voucher yet, click here.

Coming as a walk-in is an alternative to making an appointment, and you might be able to get a bike sooner this way.

We have a limit of five walk-ins per Monday, and we do not serve walk-ins on any other day.

There is no guarantee that you will be able to get a bike when you come as a walk-in.

If you are not one of the first five to check in with us after we open up at 3 PM on a Monday afternoon, we will not be able to give you a bike.

Click here for information about coming to our shop to pick up a bike.

If You Have Special Requirements

Coming as a walk-in is not the best idea for some people who are extra tall, extra short, or who are looking for something specific. Our appointment form asks about your height and any other special considerations you may have so that we can try to have a good selection of appropriate bikes for you, but hen you come as a walk-in we won't know anything about you in advance. You should strongly consider making an appointment instead.

What You Will Get

When you come as one of the first five walk-ins, we will be serving people with appointments first. Then we will show the selection of bikes that we have left that are fully tuned, and inspected. You will be able to pick from that selection.  Although we try to have a wide selection of bikes to serve people of different heights, we cannot predict who will come as a walk-in on any given day. We cannot guarantee that we will have a bike that suits your needs.

Please also note that we do not allow people to browse through our shop to pick out bikes that are still waiting to be repaired, or which have been set aside for other purposes.

We will give you a lock, lights, and we will offer you a helmet. Please do not take a helmet if you are not going to wear it. We will respect your choice and appreciate your honesty about this. Most, but not all, of our bikes are equipped with water bottle holders, and we sometimes have bottles or other accessories available, but we cannot promise them.

Bikes from Gate City Bike Co-Op are used, and given out “as is,” without warranty or guarantee. You are responsible for safe riding and for maintenance of the bike. If a bike that we give you has problems within a short time of you receiving it, we will repair it for free if possible, be we may have to keep the bike for a while.  We cannot guarantee while-you-wait or same-day service. We may offer to replace the bike for you in some cases.
